(March 18)\u003cbr/\u003e [Notes:ANCHOR VOICE]  \u003cbr/\u003eThe Federal Reserve is keeping Wall Street's big rally alive _ and giving the Treasury market a boost as well.\u003cbr/\u003eThe Fed announced it will pump about $1 trillion into the economy, including the purchase of up to $300 billion of long-term Treasury securities over the next six months.\u003cbr/\u003eThe decision sent both government bonds and stocks soaring. Investors expect the move to drive down borrowing costs for everything from mortgages to credit cards. \u003cbr/\u003eAnalysts say the move is likely to produce an immediate drop in mortgage rates _ from a quarter percent to as much as a half-percentage point.  \u003cbr/\u003eThat's great news for those borrowers with good incomes and healthy credit scores who are able to qualify for a loan. \u003cbr/\u003eThe Dow Jones industrial average rose 91 points, to end the session at 7,487. The Standard \u0026amp; Poor's 500 index added 16, to 794, and the Nasdaq rose 29to 1,491.\u003cbr/\u003eThe Fed's announcement accompanied its decision to keep interest rates at historically low levels.
