Former U.S. President Bill Clinton also took the stage to encourage people to register to vote.\u003cbr/\u003eThe concert was one of 30 events that launched the Democratic Party's \"Every Vote Counts\" drive on Wednesday. The drive was timed to allow six months of work before the November elections.\u003cbr/\u003eMichael Jackson, in a rare public appearance, performed briefly for a crowd of about 1,400 people who stood, swayed and screamed his name as he appeared on stage  joined by his dancers and performed the song ' Dangerous'\u003cbr/\u003eClinton spoke only a few words before the pop star's appearance -- and did not join in on saxophone as many in the audience had hoped -- but the two big names helped reap $2.7\u003cbr/\u003emillion for party coffers, said DNC Chairman Terry McAuliffe.
