Follow-up doses then will be available in February.\u003cbr/\u003eThe university said the plan was recommended by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.\u003cbr/\u003eDr. Tom Clark, an infectious disease researcher at the CDC says, meningitis outbreaks have occurred at U.S. colleges before.  \"Typically they're cause by Sero Group C (meningiits) and now we vaccinate routinely all adolescents and college freshmen against that Sero Group and those outbreaks by and large have gone away,\" he said. \"Sero Group B outbreak like the one at Princeton do occur.  We've seen about four or five since 2008,\" he said.\u003cbr/\u003eThe vaccinations are to be paid for by the university and aren't mandatory. Officials say they're most effective in two doses.\u003cbr/\u003eSince March, seven cases of meningitis have been confirmed on the New Jersey campus with six students and a visitor diagnosed, the most recent last week. None of the cases has been fatal.\u003cbr/\u003eLast week, the federal Food and Drug Administration approved importing the vaccine, Bexsero, for possible use at the Ivy League university. Last year a vaccine was licensed in Europe that protects againts Sero Group B.
