He says he aims to  curb Iran's drive to acquire devastating weapons and support terrorist activities.\u003cbr/\u003eThe administration also hopes the cutoff will help convince Russia to cancel its contract  with Tehran to build a nuclear reactor complex at Bushehr.\u003cbr/\u003eThe U-S fears Iran will use to plant to produce weapons-grade plutonium, but Tehran  says that's not so.\u003cbr/\u003eIn an exclusive interview with APTV, the head of Iran's atomic energy agency said the  West has nothing to fear from the plant since it'll be used only for electricity.\u003cbr/\u003eRussia signed an 800 (m) million dollar agreement in January to complete work on two  reactors at the Bushehr nuclear plant in southern Iran.\u003cbr/\u003eThe project was started by Germany's Kraftwerk Union about twenty years ago but was  abandoned after the 1979 Islamic revolution.\u003cbr/\u003eThe U-S is afraid Tehran will use the plant to make weapons-grade plutonium.\u003cbr/\u003eAt present, analysts predict Iran could have an atom bomb within seven to 15 years.  But they say it could be sooner if the Russians go ahead with the reactor deal.\u003cbr/\u003eIn an exclusive interview with APTV, the head of Iran's atomic energy agency brushes  aside U-S fears that the plant will be used for anything but peaceful purposes.\u003cbr/\u003e\"Look, this is a semi-finished power plant. It was started 20 years ago, so their fear,   probably is or I'd better say, is definitely wrong. This is a nuclear power plant first.  Besides, we are under the N-P-T (Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty). We are a member  of the Agency (International Atomic Energy Agency) and if they have anything that  shows that we are doing something against the statute of the agency, they can give it  to them.
