Woman seen through the window with Villegas walking in background\u003cbr/\u003eA gunman and his common-law wife seized four hostages inside a suburban courtroom on Tuesday near the metropolitan Manila police headquarters, city officials said.\u003cbr/\u003eThe incident in Taguig city followed a disagreement during a preliminary hearing of a civil land dispute between the common-law wife of the gunman and another woman, said one official.\u003cbr/\u003eOfficials were confident the crisis would be resolved peacefully as the gunman, Almario Villegas, a former Philippine marine and his common-law wife, Delia de la Cruz, were only \"airing their grievances\" over the foreclosure of their property.\u003cbr/\u003e\"He got furious because of the land dispute case.  He is not asking for anything, he is just asking that he will not be hurt. So I think negotiations are on the way, hopefully we can fix this,\" Taguig City Mayor, Almario Villegas, told reporters outside the Hall of Justice Building.\u003cbr/\u003eAP Television captured footage of Villegas kicking a chair with a hostage sitting in it and waving a gun.\u003cbr/\u003eHe later leaned out a window and pointed the gun outside.\u003cbr/\u003ePolice special weapons and tactics teams surrounded the compound.\u003cbr/\u003eThe complainant, Gina Ramos, was refusing a request by Villegas to reschedule the preliminary hearing. \u003cbr/\u003eThe refusal apparently angered Villegas, who whipped out a pistol, a city spokeswoman said.\u003cbr/\u003eShe said a court secretary was able to escape, leaving behind Ramos, the court clerk, another secretary and a lawyer. \u003cbr/\u003eReporters at the scene later heard four gunshots, but injuries were not reported.\u003cbr/\u003eThe spokeswoman said Villegas claimed he was also armed with a grenade. \u003cbr/\u003eIt
