Close-up Barney delivering sermon \u003cbr/\u003eUPSOUND:  (English) Barney Jones \"May the force be with you,\" \u003cbr/\u003eUPSOUND:  (English)  \"And with you.\"\u003cbr/\u003eMore than 400,000 people claimed their faith was \"Jedi\" in the 2001 census in the UK. \u003cbr/\u003eBased on the Star Wars movies, and without government recognition, the Church of the Jedi has been establishing chapters all over the United Kingdom, and its membership appears to be growing.\u003cbr/\u003eIn a far far away part of the Galaxy - known as Holyhead in North Wales - the Church of the Jedi was born. \u003cbr/\u003eIts leaders, Daniel Jones, and his elder brother, Barney, formed the Holyhead chapter in August 2007, and they are now part of an organisation claiming a worldwide membership of more than 400,000.\u003cbr/\u003eBarney Jones, also known as Master Jonba Hehol ,and one of the church's founders, says that some people were joking when they put down \"Jedi\" for their religion during the 2001 census, but he and his brother have also been receiving emails from a lot of respondents who were serious.\u003cbr/\u003eMeetings were first held in the brothers' house with only a handful of members attending, but thanks to a nationwide joke, according to the 2001 census, membership is increasing.\u003cbr/\u003eBarney Jones says the Church's meetings stress light sabre training, positive thinking, respect for others and the general Jedi way of life.\u003cbr/\u003eOutside the Church of the Jedi, Barney and Daniel lead normal lives. Barney is a hairdresser and Daniel is a musician. But it is belief in the Jedi faith that most of their time is spent on. The brothers run four websites devoted to the development of the Jedi Church.\u003cbr/\u003eDamon Edwards, a member of the Holyhead chapter, says the Church of the Jedi is a way for him to express himself through the teachings of the Jedi and to become a bigger part of the Star Wars community.\u003cbr/\u003eAllun Hadley, another member, agrees, and says that he is particularly fond of the light sabre training and the meditation, which he says is great for people with anger management problems.\u003cbr/\u003eBut how much of the teachings and sermons are based on the Star Wars films?\u003cbr/\u003eQuite a bit, says Barney Jones. He says that many of the sermons centre around the wisdom of the film's characters, such as Yoda and Obi-Wan Kenobi. \u003cbr/\u003eBut the brothers like to expand on those ideas and bring their own beliefs into the teachings.\u003cbr/\u003eDaniel Jones, or Master Morda Hehol, the church's co-founder, agrees with his brother, adding that the Jedi congregations in the films make people want to belong to something similar.\u003cbr/\u003eDespite the members' dedication, some citizens of Holyhead don't find the force that alluring. \u003cbr/\u003eThey think it's ridiculous to base a religion on a film, and that the church itself is giving the community a bad reputation.\u003cbr/\u003eBarney and Daniel will continue to minister the Jedi faith to followers, and proclaim themselves
