Fire\".\u003cbr/\u003eThe Holy Fire ceremony has been observed by Eastern Orthodox churches for several centuries and it is meant to assure the faithful that Jesus has not forgotten them and is sending a message of hope through fire. \u003cbr/\u003eFor the ritual, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, which marks the traditional site of the crucifixion and resurrection\u003cbr/\u003eof Jesus, is darkened on the day before Orthodox Easter. \u003cbr/\u003eChurch leaders then enter the area of what is believed to be Jesus' tomb inside the basilica and emerge with a flame, from which the candles of worshippers crowded in the ancient church are lit.\u003cbr/\u003eThis year, security was extremely tight and attendance was limited to just a few hundred, compared to some 10-thousand in past years, because Greek Orthodox and Armenian clergy failed to settle a dispute over who should lead the ceremony at the church. \u003cbr/\u003eThe church, built in the 4th century by Emperor Constantine, is divided among several denominations and they guard their sections jealously.\u003cbr/\u003eSmall disputes can set off centuries-long feuds. \u003cbr/\u003eIsraeli officials expressed
