Pan from parking garage to modern day entrance to necropolis\u003cbr/\u003eVatican officials unveiled an ancient Roman Necropolis on Monday that was discovered accidentally six years ago.\u003cbr/\u003eThe site contains forty burial structures and over two hundred tombs dating from the 1st century B.C. to the beginning of the 4th century A.D.  \u003cbr/\u003eWorkers came across the ancient burial site in 2000 while building an underground garage to house tourist buses for the Vatican Jubilee celebrations.\u003cbr/\u003eArchaeologists have also uncovered altars, funeral urns that once contained ashes,  five sarcophagi, and tombs both with and without skeletons. \u003cbr/\u003eAmong the tombs, they have discovered that of Alcimo, the chief set-designer for the Pompeo Theatre.  The theatre was active during the reign of the Roman Emperor Nero.   \u003cbr/\u003eThe Vatican said the burial place is second in importance to the one underneath St. Peter's Basilica, which is believed to contain relics of Peter, the first pope.\u003cbr/\u003eInside one of the tombs archaeologists found a mosaic depicting Dionysus, the Greek God of wine.\u003cbr/\u003eVatican archaeologist Giandomenico Spinola said that they might also have found evidence of early Christian belief.\u003cbr/\u003eThe sarcophagus of Publius Caesilius Victorinus, (270-290 AD) has a bas-relief sculpture of
