Cats, dogs and even the odd worm filled the stalls, singing, or rather barking and  meowing, as their owners and a full...\u003c/span\u003e\n\u003cspan class='full-description hide'\u003eEng/nat\u003cbr/\u003eThousands of animal lovers took their pets to be blessed by a priest at a New York  church on Christmas Eve. \u003cbr/\u003eCats, dogs and even the odd worm filled the stalls, singing, or rather barking and  meowing, as their owners and a full choir sang Christmas carols. \u003cbr/\u003eChristmas Eve at the Central Presbyterian Church in New York.\u003cbr/\u003eAnd the church is filled - not just with people but with animals as well.\u003cbr/\u003eAnimal lovers had brought their pets so that the creatures could be given a special  blessing.\u003cbr/\u003eAnd the stalls were filled with animals of all descriptions, decked out in festive bells,  hats - and even the odd turban.\u003cbr/\u003eAs their owners sang traditional carols, the animals joined in, howling and barking,  meowing and yowling.\u003cbr/\u003eThen it was time for Reverend Pinder to bless them - the animals that is.\u003cbr/\u003eNot all the animals brought to the church were alive - this child had brought along a  favourite plastic horse to the service.\u003cbr/\u003eEven so, Reverend Pinder gives it the church's full blessings.\u003cbr/\u003e\"Children bring their stuffed animals because they're still caught in the mystery of their  stuffed animals being real. My six month-old was gonna be here tonight dragging a  bear, but I don't think he'll make it. Other people are here that have been alone in my for  years except for the animal and they're not alone.\"\u003cbr/\u003eSUPER CAPTION: William Pinder - Reverend of the Central Presbyterian Church.\u003cbr/\u003eThis year saw hundreds of owners and their pets cramming into the church so six  \"blessing stations\" were set up to handle the huge volume.\u003cbr/\u003eThe canine contingent was by far the most prolific.  \u003cbr/\u003eMost were brought for the fun of it, although one dog owner requested a special  blessing. \u003cbr/\u003eHer friend was just diagnosed with lymphatic cancer.  \u003cbr/\u003eOthers were making repeat appearances.  \u003cbr/\u003eWith their owners expecting many more. \u003cbr/\u003e\"A lot of people think well, animals are just animals.
