Various entrance to exhibition. \u003cbr/\u003eTwo masters of pop art have gone head to head in a new art exhibition in London.\u003cbr/\u003eFor the first time work by Andy Warhol, acknowledged as one of the most influential artists of the 20th century has been displayed in creative contrast with works by the increasingly popular British graffiti artist, Banksy.  \u003cbr/\u003eThe works go on display to the public from August 10, at the Hospital Art gallery in London's Convent Garden. \u003cbr/\u003eThat Banksy has been hugely influenced by the American master of pop art is no secret.  Art critics have been comparing the two since Banksy started to become known in 2000. \u003cbr/\u003eNick Hackworth,  Contemporary Art Critic, London Evening Standard says the major difference between Warhol and Banksy is the profundity of the art. \u003cbr/\u003eIt's not the first time Warhol has been up against a graffiti artist.  \u003cbr/\u003eThe idea for the exhibition is taken from the famous  Warhol vs Basquiat an  exhibition of contrasting art featuring US graffiti artist Jean-Michel Basquiat and Warhol in the mid eighties. \u003cbr/\u003eArt Dealer and Curator of the exhibition, Stephen Pollock says a display featuring the Banksy and Warhol together was inevitable. \u003cbr/\u003eWarhol was a controversial figure in his lifetime. \u003cbr/\u003eHis work was initially often derided by art critics as a hoax. \u003cbr/\u003eHowever he is now considered to be as one of the most influential artists of the 20th century.\u003cbr/\u003eHis pieces sell for millions of dollars (US). \u003cbr/\u003eOne of the now famous Campbell Soup paintings sold for 11.8 million Dollars.  \u003cbr/\u003eIn May 2007 year a new record was set with Warhol's 1963 painting, Green Car Crash which sold for $71.7 million USD.  \u003cbr/\u003eBanksy's Kate Moss sold for $102,000 US Dollars.  Last year Angelina Jolie reportedly spent 405,000 US Dollars  on work from the artist. \u003cbr/\u003eDuncan Cargill, Creative Director, The Hospital Group says Warhol's style is enduring because of the simplicity of the images he used. \u003cbr/\u003eSo what of Banksy? Is the clamour for subversive graffiti art just a passing phase? \u003cbr/\u003eStephen Pollock says dealers are now keen to buy Banksy's art and he does not think they will abandon it. \u003cbr/\u003eHowever he added that in the event of a flood or disaster he'd save a Warhol First.\u003cbr/\u003eNick Hackworth says he doubts the graffiti artist will ever surpass the more senior
