Medium zoom in to close on foundry worker putting finishing touches on SAG Award 'Actor' statuette \u003cbr/\u003eThough there are still contract disputes within the largest actors' union, the Screen Actors Guild was getting ready Wednesday for its annual awards show. \u003cbr/\u003eThe organisation invited the media to the American Fine Arts Foundry in Burbank, Calif., as workers created the 'Actor' statuettes to be handed out to winners at the ceremony on Jan. 25. \u003cbr/\u003e\"it is that time of the year again where we need to produce the statuettes for the Screen Actors Guild,\" foundry production manager Angel Meza said. \"What you guys have witnessed this morning was the pour of the 40 statuettes that are going to be produced this year for the Screen Actors Guild.\"\u003cbr/\u003eWorkers were busy hand-crafting the moulds, pouring molten bronze into them, then hammering out the resulting statuette and polishing it to its final form. \u003cbr/\u003e\"When we pour the molten bronze, we just kind of let it cool for a few hours -- a couple hours -- to make sure the statuettes are properly dry, then we break the ceramic material to develop the image of the piece already in metal,\" Meza said. \u003cbr/\u003eAmong those on-hand for the media event was actor Corey Reynolds, who plays Sgt. Like a gift suite.\"\u003cbr/\u003eThe Screen Actors Guild board met on Monday and Tuesday and plans to press on with plans for a strike authorisation vote. It is unclear when ballots will be mailed out to members. \u003cbr/\u003eActors in the 120,000-member guild have been working without a contract on movies and prime-time TV shows since June 30. Reynolds sounded against a strike vote. \u003cbr/\u003e\"I think that during this economic period that we're in, anything that could create any more instability could be dangerous,\" he said. \"And that's not saying that you could create instability by striking or by not striking. ... But hopefully we'll be able to come to some kind of agreement that will keep everyone happy. I think that's the goal. That's the goal! Whether or not that's the plan, you know? If it is approved, the SAG national board can call a strike. Voting would take about three weeks, and it now appears highly unlikely that a strike would disrupt any portion of Hollywood's awards season, which ends with the Feb. 22 Oscars
