leader-in-waiting, who reappeared just days ago after a puzzling two-week disappearance that raised questions about his health, is expected to deliver a speech on Friday at an investment and trade forum held in partnership with the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN).\u003cbr/\u003eOn Thursday, Xi met visiting leaders from Laos, Thailand and Vietnam and is scheduled to hold meetings with top officials from Myanmar and Malaysia on Friday.\u003cbr/\u003e\"We are willing to maintain the high level relations between China and Thailand, enhance strategic communication, make progress to enhance the common interest, and continue to keep progress in the China-Thailand relationship,\" Xi told Thai Deputy Prime Minister Kittiratt Na-Ranong.\u003cbr/\u003eMinutes later, Xi welcomed a Vietnamese delegation headed by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.\u003cbr/\u003eDuring the meeting, Xi stressed that the uncertainty created by the international financial crisis was bringing serious challenges to the region and that ASEAN countries and China should work together to overcome the difficulties.\u003cbr/\u003e\"Our mission is to help each other, to cooperate and to remain united,\" Xi told Nguyen. \u003cbr/\u003e\"We should enhance cooperation, and work together to achieve steady development in Asia.\"\u003cbr/\u003eThe Expo is an event held once a year focusing on regional economic and trade cooperation rather than on the political and diplomatic issues that are often discussed in other regional forums.\u003cbr/\u003eIn early September, Xi's failure to attend a series of meetings with visiting foreign officials fuelled speculation over his health and the future of the leadership in the world's second largest economy.\u003cbr/\u003eHe resurfaced on September 15th, during a visit to Beijing's China Agricultural University, and has since then met visiting US Defence Secretary Leon Panetta.\u003cbr/\u003eNeither the government nor official media have given any
