Wide of Glos and Chidambaram leaving conference\u003cbr/\u003eThe German Economy Minister, Michael Glos and the Indian Finance Minister, Palaniappan Chidambaram on Wednesday said they wanted to increase economic relations and support potential business investments between their two nations.\u003cbr/\u003eThey were addressing a final news conference following the 16th Indo-German Joint Commission, 2007 meeting.\u003cbr/\u003e\"There is increasing recognition that India is a fast-growing nation,\" Chidambaram said at the end of the two-day meeting between India and its biggest trading partner in Europe. \u003cbr/\u003e\"We are confident that over the next years we'll be able to increase the growth rate to 10 percent and sustain it in the mid term,\" Chidambaram said. \u003cbr/\u003eBoth ministers saw a chance for German companies to play a key role in developing India's infrastructure, including the energy sector and as a result underpinning efforts to address climate change. \u003cbr/\u003eThey also proposed greater cooperation between their two nations on reducing carbon dioxide emissions.\u003cbr/\u003eChidambaram called for the setting up of what he called a flagship investment programme for the two nations.\u003cbr/\u003e\"Germany and German companies should look into the fast-growing power sector in India.
