Top shot of media\u003cbr/\u003eThe kidnapping trial of six French aid workers who insist they were trying to rescue Darfur orphans continued under tight security in Chad on Monday.\u003cbr/\u003eThe head of French charity Zoe's Ark which the aid workers worked for has called the kidnap charges \"fantasies\". \u003cbr/\u003eSome of the families of the children the charity workers allegedly tried to kidnap were at the court in N'Djamena on Monday.\u003cbr/\u003eThe six who its is alleged tried to kidnap 103 African children from Chad last October insist their innocence and have gone on hunger strike.\u003cbr/\u003eThey could face 20-year hard labour sentences if found guilty.\u003cbr/\u003eThe aid workers claim the children were orphaned by the conflict in the neighbouring Sudanese region of Darfur, and arranged for French families to care for them. \u003cbr/\u003eInvestigations subsequently have revealed that most of the children, aged between one and ten years old, were Chadians with living parents or adults they regarded as parents.\u003cbr/\u003eThe French government has previously said it warned the charity that its actions could contravene local laws.\u003cbr/\u003eThree Chadians and one Sudanese refugee have also been charged with conspiracy. \u003cbr/\u003eSome Chadians have expressed anger that the African prisoners may be judged by a harsher standard since they have no European government to intervene on their behalf. \u003cbr/\u003eEleven other foreigners - the French journalists who had been reporting on the planned evacuation and seven Spanish flight crew
