Court sketch, Mohamed\u003cbr/\u003eA United States jury on Tuesday spared the life of a terrorist in the deadly 1998 bombing of a U-S embassy in Africa - opting instead for a sentence of life in prison without parole.\u003cbr/\u003e27-year old Khalfan Khamis Mohamed, of Tanzania, was convicted of conspiracy in May for the 1998 bombing in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, which killed 11 people. \u003cbr/\u003eHis lawyers said he was extremely relieved to hear the verdict.\u003cbr/\u003eMohamed was allegedly part of a terrorist plot ordered by exiled Saudi Osama bin Laden. \u003cbr/\u003eA nearly simultaneous blast at the U-S embassy in Kenya killed 213 people.\u003cbr/\u003eJurors began deliberations in the penalty phase of Mohamed's trial on Thursday.\u003cbr/\u003eOn Tuesday, they said they could not agree on the death penalty for Mohamed.\u003cbr/\u003eLast month, the same jury could not agree on whether to impose the death penalty against another defendant, Mohamed Rashed Daoud Al-'Owhali of Saudi Arabia, for his role in the attack in Nairobi, Kenya. \u003cbr/\u003eHe was also sentenced to life in prison.\u003cbr/\u003eTuesday's decision concluded a six-month prosecution resulting in convictions against four men involved in the bombings.\u003cbr/\u003eMohamed told F-B-I agents after his arrest that he had no regrets about the attack.\u003cbr/\u003eAfter building the Al-'Owhali death case almost entirely on the emotional testimony of victims of the Kenya bombing, prosecutors took a different approach for Mohamed. \u003cbr/\u003eThey focused on a savage attack last year against a prison guard as the defendants awaited trial.\u003cbr/\u003eMohamed was accused of helping his cell mate ambush guard Louis Pepe in a botched escape scheme. \u003cbr/\u003eJurors heard other guards describe the horror of seeing a sharpened comb plunged into the victim's left eye.\u003cbr/\u003eProsecutors argued that the attack, which left Pepe with permanent brain damage, proved Mohamed was a threat who would try to kill again behind bars.\u003cbr/\u003eThe two remaining defendants in the current case were convicted of conspiracy and face
