US-based chemical manufacturer Dow Chemical's sponsorship of the 2012 London Olympics.\u003cbr/\u003eThe company has been announced as a sponsor, despite criticism over its links to a gas leak in India that killed thousands.\u003cbr/\u003eAn estimated 15,000 people died in 1984 when gas leaked out of a Union Carbide pesticide plant in the central Indian city of Bhopal.\u003cbr/\u003eDow bought Union Carbide in 2001 and has said legal claims from the disaster have been resolved.\u003cbr/\u003eOn Monday, dozens of activists lay on the ground in front of the sports ministry, wrapped in mock shrouds to represent the victims of the disaster while others chanted anti-Dow slogans . \u003cbr/\u003eThe survivors and their advocates called on the Indian government to boycott the Olympics, and years later.\u003cbr/\u003eUnion Carbide paid 470 (m) million US dollars as compensation for those killed or injured.\u003cbr/\u003eThe Indian government is seeking an additional 1.7 (b) billion US
