Mid shot of boat sailing on the sea\u003cbr/\u003eBreaking up is hard to do. \u003cbr/\u003eBut at Britain's first ever divorce fair lawyers, counsellors, astrologists and lifestyle coaches attempted to make the process easier.\u003cbr/\u003eAccording to government statistics almost half of all marriages in England and Wales will end in divorce.  \u003cbr/\u003eHigh profile celebrity divorces may hit the headlines, but behind the statistics are thousands of couples experiencing relationship breakdowns who just want to move with their lives in a positive way. \u003cbr/\u003eBritain's first divorce fair, cheerily named the \"Starting Over Show\" wants to help people achieve a fresh start. \u003cbr/\u003eOrganiser Suzi Miller says break- ups are a difficult time and the fair offers sensible advice to help resolve disputes and help rebuild people's self esteem. \u003cbr/\u003eThe fair took place in an unseasonably sunny Brighton - a seaside town filled with fashionable cafes, art galleries and fairground rides on England's south coast. \u003cbr/\u003eThere are wedding fairs everywhere telling you how to tie the knot, but when people go through a divorce they need more help, more support, according to the organisers.\u003cbr/\u003eEurope's first divorce fair in Austria two years ago featured private investigators and companies offering DNA tests for proof of paternity. \u003cbr/\u003eBut 'Starting Over' promised to focus on the positive, starting with a warming cup of tea and a chunk of homemade cake.\u003cbr/\u003eThere are psychic healers who heal people by manipulating electro magnetic fields, colour therapists who advise on what colours to wear to feel confident. \u003cbr/\u003eAstrologer Martina Mercer says she helps people get to know themselves and each other better. \u003cbr/\u003eSome 30 exhibitors have paid up to 1,600 pounds ($2,245) for a stall _ and many focus on having fun after the divorce is over.\u003cbr/\u003eMaris Schlemm, Founder of 'Climax Chocolates' says that divorcees need a treat when times get tough and what better than chocolate. \u003cbr/\u003eAnother exhibitor called the \"Shoe Queen\" organises the footwear equivalent of Tupperware parties, selling stilettos instead of rubber margarine tubs. \u003cbr/\u003eAnother stall organises art appreciation vacations. A dating agency promises to help those still interested in giving love a chance.\u003cbr/\u003eOn a more pragmatic note, there are also mediators that promise to help a couple navigate divorce without lawyers, and debt counsellors to avoid bankruptcy. \u003cbr/\u003eOther attorneys promote a non-confrontational approach, useful for divorcing couples with children.\u003cbr/\u003eElissa Da Costa, is divorce lawyer specialising in a non-confrontational approach. \u003cbr/\u003eShe says that they work together with both husband and wife to achieve a settlement without involving the courts. \u003cbr/\u003eKirsten Gronning, founder of Breakup Angels says her organisation helps divorcing couples deal with the many aspects of a break up \" from family mediators to financial consultants to family lawyers, coaches, counsellors, experts who are passionate about helping people through relationship breakdown.\" \u003cbr/\u003eBritain has one of the highest divorce rates in Europe and although the divorce rate has declined in recent years, lawyers suspect that will change, as the country's recession puts pressure on marriages.\u003cbr/\u003eAlready, divorcing couples are squabbling over fast-depreciating assets. \u003cbr/\u003eEarlier this week, financier Brian Myerson asked a British court to reassess his divorce settlement. \u003cbr/\u003eHe had agreed last March to pay his ex-wife 40 per cent of his 25.8 million pound ($36 million) fortune in cash instalments and property but now argued the deal was unfair as the value of his assets plummeted.\u003cbr/\u003eIf the judge does allow Myerson to re-negotiate, lawyers say it will pave the way for thousands of similar cases.\u003cbr/\u003eOthers lawyers say business is booming, from people anxious to separate from spouses while their assets are at a low.\u003cbr/\u003eFair organisers say they sold 300 advance tickets at about 5 pounds ($7) each.\u003cbr/\u003eOn the sea front an interfaith (non denominational) minister demonstrates a break up ceremony. \u003cbr/\u003eThe celebrant (minister) Lucy Wintle says it is one way to heal the rift and allow couples to leave a relationship without residual feelings of animosity. \u003cbr/\u003eHappy couples strolling along Brighton's famous beach and promenade share their secrets for a successful relationship. \u003cbr/\u003eThe key phrases and words are 'communication', 'respect' 'be yourself' and be 'friends'. \u003cbr/\u003eBritain has one of Europe's highest divorce rates, with 2.6 divorces per 1,000 people compared with a European\u003cbr/\u003eaverage of 1.8, according to 2001 EU statistics.\u003cbr/\u003eAccording to UK government statistics at least one child under 16 is affected in 53% of all cases, with nearly two-thirds of them being under 11. \u003cbr/\u003eSince 1997 average age of divorce has risen from 40.2 to 43.7 years for men and from 37.7 to 41.2 years for women, partly due to the rise in age at
