Rainsy says ruling party officials are either pocketing the aid money or...\u003c/span\u003e\n\u003cspan class='full-description hide'\u003eEnglish/Nat\u003cbr/\u003eCambodia's opposition leader, Sam Rainsy, has started a hunger strike to protest against alleged corruption in the delivery of aid to flood victims. \u003cbr/\u003eRainsy says ruling party officials are either pocketing the aid money or diverting resources to friends, family and political supporters. \u003cbr/\u003eCambodia has been hit by its worst flooding in decades, with almost three million people affected.\u003cbr/\u003eIt was a perfect chance for Sam Rainsy to contrast himself with the ruling party he claims is swindling the needy. \u003cbr/\u003eThe opposition leader personally distributed rice to hundreds of flood victims who have moved into the capital from their inundated homes.\u003cbr/\u003eNeedling his political enemies is Sam Rainsy's forte. \u003cbr/\u003eHis charge of corruption over flood aid has been vigorously denied. \u003cbr/\u003eStill, he's started a hunger strike to highlight the claim, and slept for a night outside the National Assembly for maximum publicity. \u003cbr/\u003eHe's since been evicted but his fasting will continue.\u003cbr/\u003eSOUNDBITE: (English)\u003cbr/\u003e\"I will continue my hunger strike as long as there is evidence that the government is behaving in an unfair way towards the flood victims.
