Many suffer, too, from ailments such as allergies, asthma and epilepsy.  \u003cbr/\u003eAlthough there is no cure for autism, proper care can lead to sufferers enjoying productive lives.  \u003cbr/\u003eA centre at Dhaka Children's Hospital is offering help to children and parents, which local Autism experts say rivals care offered in the western world. \u003cbr/\u003eBangladesh has made tremendous strides in reducing infant mortality - among one of seven countries on target for the Millennium Development Goals set for 2015, according to the aid agency Save the Children UK, in its 2008 report Saving Children's Lives. \u003cbr/\u003eBut as more and more vulnerable children reach adulthood, for some their quality of life is suffering because of a lack of adequate health services to tackle neuro-developmental impairments, among them autism. \u003cbr/\u003eThe Child Development Centre, a part of the Dhaka Children's Hospital, is emerging at the forefront of research on neuro-developmental impairments such as autism, but also seizure disorders and epilepsy. \u003cbr/\u003eWith a staff of 20, it already has over 18,000 children with neuro-impairments on its lists as patients, many whom visit regularly for consults. \u003cbr/\u003eA ten question screening questionnaire developed by the CDC, which diagnoses a child's behavioural disorder on the basis of ten simple questions, is now being used in over fifty countries, from India, to Malawi and Egypt, to Brazil. \u003cbr/\u003eThe questionnaire is so sensitive, it can identify a developmental delay as opposed to a disorder. \u003cbr/\u003eIn part because of the overwhelming number of patients that come to the CDC, the therapists and doctors there have also developed simple home-based techniques that parents can use to develop their children's cognitive and sensory impairments. \u003cbr/\u003eSadman Tahseen is 2 years and 11 months old, and has been coming to the CDC since September 2007. \u003cbr/\u003eIn this short span, say his parents, he has already started to interact with people instead of fearing them as he used to. \u003cbr/\u003eHis mother Khadija Binte Khaleque says that he will even hug strangers now.  \u003cbr/\u003eDr Naila Khan, who heads the Centre says that many of the children's symptons can be reduced if they attend the clinic between the ages of  0 - 2. \u003cbr/\u003eAnother child, Srijon Inam is 2 years and 3 months, and his therapists are noticing that his skills of concentration and communication have vastly improved, since his parents started using the home-based techniques that the CDC suggested. \u003cbr/\u003eSrijon's therapist Selina Akhter, says that now he is paying more attention to stories and rhymes. \u003cbr/\u003eDr Rownak Hafiz, Chairperson of Bangladesh's Autism Welfare Foundation says that the care given by the team of specialists at the CDC rivals that of similar institutes in more developed countries. \u003cbr/\u003eThe CDC is financed in large part by personal donations and with money from the Bangladesh government. \u003cbr/\u003eTher are no official statistics regarding autism in Bangladesh, and awareness among doctors is quite low, according to AWF.\u003cbr/\u003eIn addition, AWF says it handled 400 children in 2004, 1,000 in 2005, and 1,200 in 2006.\u003cbr/\u003eThis year, they have
