The debt now stands at 77 (m) million US dollars.\u003cbr/\u003eWith the aid and write-offs, Costa Rica will work \"to turn what has been promise into reality,\" Environment Minister Teofilo de la Torre said.\u003cbr/\u003eUnder the act, the US has provided 135 (m) million US dollars in aid to 11 countries since 1998, including Panama, El Salvador, the Philippines and Bangladesh.\u003cbr/\u003eCosta Rica is receiving another 19.9 (m) million US dollars from private organisations including the Linden Trust for Conservation, the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation and the Walton Family Foundation. \u003cbr/\u003eAnother nine (m) million US dollars is coming from The Nature Conservancy, an international non-governmental organisation.\u003cbr/\u003eRoger Ullman, executive director for the Linden Trust for Conservation, said Costa Rica would serve as a model for other countries.\u003cbr/\u003eThe sites that will benefit from the initiative, called \"Forever Costa Rica,\" include the Cocos Island National Park, Corcovado National Park and the Golfo Dulce and Pacific areas such as the Barra del Colorado and Gandoca shelter, on the Atlantic coast.\u003cbr/\u003eMark Tercek, president of The Nature Conservancy, said he hoped delegates at the Cancun conference would see 'Forever Costa Rica' as a real success story of the public and private sector working together.  \u003cbr/\u003e\"We hope it will inspire other countries to follow Costa Rica's lead.\"\u003cbr/\u003eRECENT: Braulio Carrillo National Park, Costa Rica, exact date unknown\u003cbr/\u003e1.
