A lot of inbreeding can occur and studies have shown that in- breeding reduces a species viability, its adaptability, higher infant mortality rates occur  when there is a lot of in-breeding and so a lot of the breeding here is carefully controlled  in order to maximise the genetic diversity and preserve a more true bloodline of the  animals.\u003cbr/\u003eCAPTION: Amber Blaha, Programme Coordinator\u003cbr/\u003eMany animals such as this deer have been raised by humans, since there are no  natural parents to raise them in numbers.\u003cbr/\u003eI think certainly these places are very important for maintaining populations that are  genetically sound and maintaining numbers.
