Various of Suu Kyi planting sapling\u003cbr/\u003eMyanmar opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi had an emotional reunion with her teachers and old classmates on Friday when she visited the college in Delhi, where she had been a student fifty years ago.\u003cbr/\u003eSuu Kyi studied at the prestigious Lady Shri Ram college from 1962-64 when her mother was ambassador to India.\u003cbr/\u003eA large number of teachers, students and guests had gathered at the college to honour one of their most famous alumni.\u003cbr/\u003e\"We need you to help us in our progress towards democracy. We are trying to achieve democracy and in our endeavours we need your help,\" she said in her address.\u003cbr/\u003eIn the 1980s and early '90s, India was a strong supporter of Suu Kyi in her struggle against the country's military junta for which she received the Nobel Peace Prize. \u003cbr/\u003eBut in the mid-1990s, India changed tack to engage with the junta, resisting pressure from Western democracies that had imposed economic sanctions on Myanmar.\u003cbr/\u003eSuu Kyi said she wanted India's help in reviving a vibrant education culture in Burma.\u003cbr/\u003e\"There is no life outside the classrooms of Burmese universities. This is something we have to change. And we hope that you will help us in trying to bring about this change. We want to revive campus life in universities of Burma,\" she said.\u003cbr/\u003eSuu Kyi is in India at the invitation of the Indian government and has held meetings with the prime minister and foreign minister over the past two days.\u003cbr/\u003eOn Tuesday, she also delivered the prestigious Nehru Memorial Lecture, held annually to mark the birthday of independent India's first elected
