Wegman has been  pioneering green building for affordable housing, schools and communities for more than a decade. \u003cbr/\u003eSo far, Green Cross and Global Green have influenced more than $20 billion dollars in green construction.\u003cbr/\u003e Wegman says that although it might not be convenient for consumers, they have to change their attitudes.\u003cbr/\u003eHe credits celebrities such as Brad Pitt, Leonardo Dicaprio and Morgan Freeman for helping raise awareness on green housing ideas. \u003cbr/\u003eIn August 2007 Brad Pitt visited his adopted city New Orleans to speak about the Cisco Brothers Home Design - the first company in Los Angeles to create such a line. \u003cbr/\u003eThe furnishings have been given the Forest Stewardship Certified (FSC) seal - meaning the wood comes from renewable forests. \u003cbr/\u003eFSC is an international network to promote responsible management of the world's forests. \u003cbr/\u003eTaking a leading role with the first retail stores LA and making a mark in the industry is world-wide, multiple-award winning owner Cisco Pinedo whose factory sits in South Central Los Angeles. \u003cbr/\u003ePinedo says people are starting to care more about what goes into their home and whether it will have a negative effect. \u003cbr/\u003eAccording to Pinedo 99.9% of all furniture bought today is toxic petroleum based.  \u003cbr/\u003eHe urges consumers to ask stores for furniture made with products such as water based glues used for natural reclaimed wood; latex - a natural product from rubber trees instead of foam which is petroleum based; upholstery from bamboo, hemp and wool \u003cbr/\u003ePinedo admits Americans are still behind Europeans in green construction trends, but hopes that changing attitudes and the vast buying power
