So that the benefit we have had with the Salt Lake City Olympics, the Vancouver Olympics, working with our friends in Europe overseas on their World Cup. And, you know, we had a World Cup finals in the United States. Wide of Chertoff leaving news conference \u003cbr/\u003eUS Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff said on Monday that the United States is prepared to offer Brazil security advice on hosting the 2011 Military Games and the 2014 World Cup.\u003cbr/\u003eChertoff also warned officials about leaving \"ungoverned spaces\" unprotected. Such border areas, like the one shared by Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay could allow criminals to \"operate with relative freedom.\"\u003cbr/\u003e\"The general experience that I have had is that any time you have what I call an ungoverned space, an area where criminals, smugglers, counterfeiters, money launderers can operate with relative freedom, that is a dangerous area,\" Chertoff said at a news conference in Rio de Janeiro.\u003cbr/\u003eThe triple border is considered by many to be a lawless region, controlled by local ranchers from all three countries. Brazilian newspapers have recently reported incidents of drug smuggling, of cattle theft and illegal immigration among other criminal activities.\u003cbr/\u003eChertoff warned journalists about possible terrorist threats, which can emerge in any region and mentioned the FARC (Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia) as an example of one of many rebel groups that have terrorised the region. \u003cbr/\u003e\"We know that these new threats can emerge and, particularly in a century where modern technology gives even a small number of people the ability to develop very fierce weapons. I think we all have an interest in making sure we have a secure space for decent people,\" he said. \u003cbr/\u003eChertoff also extended a public invitation to state officials officials from Rio de
