Chidambaram said he has been assured of more investments by Singapore in India after the two countries signed the Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA).\u003cbr/\u003eThe Indian cabinet last week cleared a trade and investment agreement with Singapore that will allow both countries greater access to each other's markets, liberalise financial services and create avenues for increasing foreign investment.\u003cbr/\u003eAccording to the economic agreement, three major Singaporean banks will be allowed to set up wholly owned subsidiaries in India.\u003cbr/\u003eCECA, an agreement between the two countries, also provides for an improved pact on avoiding double taxation and Singapore hopes it will add momentum to Singapore's quest to position itself as Asia's free-trade hub.\u003cbr/\u003eSingapore has already signed free-trade agreements with six other countries, including the U.S., Australia, and Japan in the past five years.\u003cbr/\u003eBesides meeting Chidambaram, Lee also met India's President A.P.J.
