Wide shot news conference \u003cbr/\u003eThe World Health Organisation (WHO) has given Beijing a clean bill of health on SARS, lifting a travel warning and saying the chain of infection in the Chinese capital has been broken.\u003cbr/\u003eBeijing was the last place in the world under a WHO advisory urging travellers to avoid non-essential visits because of severe acute respiratory syndrome, which first surfaced in southern China in November.\u003cbr/\u003eThe SARS crisis peaked in March and April before ebbing worldwide as officials moved to quarantine patients and screen travellers for symptoms. \u003cbr/\u003eThe disease has killed more than 800 people and infected more than 8-thousand-400 others.\u003cbr/\u003eThe lifting of the Beijing travel advisory was announced to applause at a news conference in Beijing by Shigeru Omi, WHO regional director for the western Pacific region.\u003cbr/\u003eOmi said the decision to lift the advisory was based on factors including the number of current SARS cases, the quality of monitoring and the effectiveness of prevention measures.\u003cbr/\u003eBeijing was also removed from a WHO list of places with recent local transmissions of the disease, leaving only Taiwan and Toronto on the list. Travel advisories for those two places have already been lifted, with the announcement on Taiwan coming last week.\u003cbr/\u003eRemoval from the second list comes after a place has gone 20 days since isolating its last confirmed case of SARS, which is twice the incubation period of the disease.\u003cbr/\u003eOmi said: \"WHO has concluded that the chain of person-to-person transmission in Beijing has been broken\".\u003cbr/\u003eThe Health Ministry said the number of people in hospital with SARS in Beijing fell to just 43 on Tuesday.\u003cbr/\u003eThat was down from more than one-thousand at
