Thompson, the principle researcher in the study, focused an infrared instrument on the Hubble on a narrow patch of the sky that had been previously photographed in visible light.\u003cbr/\u003eThe instrument detected about 100 galaxies that were not seen in the visible light and 10 of these were at extreme distance.\u003cbr/\u003eHe says the findings are valuable because they give us an insight into how galaxies were first formed.\u003cbr/\u003eSOUNDBITE: (English)\u003cbr/\u003e\"Now these observations directly relate to the history of star formation in the universe. Since we looked at both dusty red galaxies where there may be hidden star formation that we can detect and early epic galaxies where we are looking at the first star formations.
