And on top of this Switzerland make it clear in this offer they want to leave this waste in Russia permanently, meaning Russia would not just process it but also store it. They also intend to store in Russia, Swiss nuclear waste that has been processed in France and England.\"\u003cbr/\u003eSUPER CAPTION:  Igor Forofontov, Greenpeace expert on nuclear waste\u003cbr/\u003eMany countries export their nuclear waste for processing but as a rule are required to take back the product for long-term storage.\u003cbr/\u003eSwitzerland usually sends its spent fuel to Britain or France for processing but then takes the waste product back.\u003cbr/\u003eBut in this agreement, which Greenpeace says is both illegal and immoral, more than two-thousand tonnes of Swiss spent nuclear fuel would be processed and permanently stored in Russia.  \u003cbr/\u003eRussia already has major difficulties dealing with its own nuclear waste.  \u003cbr/\u003eThe main storage and processing facility in the Eastern Ural mountains of Cheliyabinsk is in one of the world's most radioactive cities.  \u003cbr/\u003eAnd, if this contract goes through, there is no doubt the Swiss waste will go directly there.\u003cbr/\u003eSOUNDBITE: (Russian)\u003cbr/\u003e\"The only place in Russia that could possibly process this waste is Cheliyabinsk 65, at its infamous Mayak factory.
