racing high performance Formula 1 cars, these drivers travelled at a more sedate pace on lawnmowers. \u003cbr/\u003eA snow-covered field outside the town of J�rvenp�� was the setting for the three-hour mower marathon. \u003cbr/\u003eRace organisers added water on top of the snow and let it freeze, to give a more slippery surface.\u003cbr/\u003eDrivers had to complete as many laps of the 600-metre circuit as possible in machines that might usually be found in parks or large gardens.\u003cbr/\u003e\"We have two different classes\" of lawnmower said race organiser Patrik Lindahl, \"and this is standard class, so you could cut grass with it,\" he added. \u003cbr/\u003eLawnmower racing teams had travelled from Estonia, Luxembourg and Britain to join Finnish competitors at the annual race.\u003cbr/\u003eThe British contingent set up a tent at the side of the track with all their mechanics supplies - which came in handy when one of the lawnmowers broke its axel.\u003cbr/\u003eVeteran racer Jason Huskinson has been involved in the sport for more than a decade, but this is his first trip to Finland. \u003cbr/\u003e\"The guys said we're going to Finland to race on the snow and the ice and I thought I can't miss that opportunity and it's absolutely fantastic,\" he said.\u003cbr/\u003eHuskinson later collected a trophy for his third place finish in the rally, but he said his handling skills were put to the test on the unfamiliar track. \u003cbr/\u003eThe racing lawnmowers reached speeds of up to 48 kilometres (30 miles) per hour.\u003cbr/\u003eMore than a dozen lawnmowers were competing in the race, with some teams employing a shift method, taking pit stops to switch out drivers as temperatures dipped to minus 6 six degrees Celsius  (21 degrees
