Pan left to ride wide main hall Vienna Conference Centre\u003cbr/\u003eThe biggest video game launches might be raking in billions of dollars but the Spielefest event in Austria proves there's life left in traditional board games yet.\u003cbr/\u003eWith over 5,000 different board games under the roof of the Vienna Conference Centre it's a place for gamers to try before they buy - and there's not a games console in sight.\u003cbr/\u003eAll sorts of board games are on display at Vienna's annual Spielefest, from classics like Chess and Trivial Pursuit to more unusual new titles from around the world.\u003cbr/\u003eNow in its 26th year, the annual Spielefest attracts 60,000 visitors.\u003cbr/\u003eThe show is all about getting hands on with the latest games - giving visitors the chance to try before they buy.\u003cbr/\u003eFerdinand de Cassan, the festival organiser says this is why so many people attend.\u003cbr/\u003e\"It was important for us to give people the possibility to test as long as they like to without having to buy anything. If you go into shops these days, there is always pressure to buy. Here you can test everything for as long as you like to,\" he says.\u003cbr/\u003eGetting to grips with the rules for a new game can be complicated so there are experts on hand to guide first timers through the do and don'ts without flicking through the rulebooks every five seconds.\u003cbr/\u003eAndrea Milke, spokeswoman for Amigo games says: \"We want the people to play, to have fun with our games, and this is only possible if they can test the games first. And this here is the only possibility for many people to see many games at one time\u003cbr/\u003eTaking place five weeks before Christmas, it's unsurprising many visitors were window shopping for gifts.\u003cbr/\u003eAlthough you can't buy games at the fair, the long list of games waiting to be hired proves the appetite is there.\u003cbr/\u003eOne game designer, Timo Multam�ki, who was showing off his latest creation The Phantom League teaches gamers the basics.\u003cbr/\u003eHe says: \"I think it's a similar thing than telling stories or writing books - I can't write books, but I can tell you a story by doing a game.\"\u003cbr/\u003eHe believes game design is universal and isn't particular to any country or culture.\u003cbr/\u003eSpielefest brings together all the different game enthusiasts under one roof.\u003cbr/\u003eIn one room Jedi knights do battle with lightsabres...
