angry about it, they took to the streets in protest and headed to the town of Kyalami where an exposition of new models for taxi-vans was on display.\u003cbr/\u003eStriking South African taxivan drivers marched through the streets of Johannesburg on Thursday carrying rocks and sticks.\u003cbr/\u003eSome of them  were seen pulling other drivers, who were not striking, out of their vehicles and government argues the current taxi-vans, used to transport mostly black South Africans, are unsafe.\u003cbr/\u003eThe vehicles often exceed the speed limit and are in poor condition.\u003cbr/\u003eThe government wants a new model of taxivan on the road and has set-up a competition among eight potential van manufacturers.\u003cbr/\u003eTaxivan operators say they will lose their jobs, in part because the new models will hold more passengers.\u003cbr/\u003eThe government plans to take the older models off the road by buying them from the drivers, who can then put the money towards a new
