This explosion was targeting the school and the headmaster of the school.\"\u003cbr/\u003e5. Yemeni officials leaving the hospital after visiting the injured\u003cbr/\u003eA Yemeni guard was killed in an explosion on Tuesday near the US Embassy in the capital of San'a, a Yemeni Interior Ministry official said. \u003cbr/\u003eOther local guards and some schoolchildren were also wounded in the blast.\u003cbr/\u003eThe official spoke on condition of anonymity, as Yemeni officials often do, according to protocol.\u003cbr/\u003eThe official said the blast came after unknown attackers fired two mortars at a high school next to the embassy in the downtown San'a district of Sawan. \u003cbr/\u003eThe school is attended mostly by Yemeni students.\u003cbr/\u003eOne shell landed outside the gates of the school, killing the  Yemeni guard at the US Embassy next door and injuring three other guards. \u003cbr/\u003eThe guards were all employed by the Yemeni Interior Ministry.\u003cbr/\u003eThe second mortar hit the school courtyard and wounded three students.\u003cbr/\u003eAlthough a US official in Washington said it appeared the American mission could have been the target of the attack, the Yemeni Interior Ministry official later said that the attack was likely linked to a dispute between a teacher and the school's administration.\u003cbr/\u003eHis comments were echoed by an eyewitness.\u003cbr/\u003e\"This explosion was targeting the school and the headmaster of the school,\" said Abdullah El Wadai. \u003cbr/\u003e\"The explosion happened as the students were coming out from school and we heard the students screaming and we rushed to help them,\" he said. \u003cbr/\u003eThe Yemeni official said that the school received a warning two days ago from the teacher's family about an imminent attack. \u003cbr/\u003eHe gave no further details but said no arrests had yet taken place in connection with the attack.\u003cbr/\u003eAlthough attacks on schools are unusual here, Yemen is a tribal society awash with weapons, especially in the wake of a three-year-long Shiite rebellion in the northern Saada province.\u003cbr/\u003eThe US Embassy issued a statement saying no employees were injured in the incident.\u003cbr/\u003eThe embassy was closed for the rest of the day following the attack, it added.\u003cbr/\u003eAttacks on foreigners have taken place, most recently in January, when a group of Belgian tourists was targeted while travelling in the country's east. \u003cbr/\u003eThree Belgians and their Yemeni driver were killed and four other Belgians were wounded.\u003cbr/\u003eAl-Qaida has an active presence in Yemen, despite government efforts to destroy the network. \u003cbr/\u003eThe group was blamed for the 2000 bombing of the USS Cole warship in the Yemeni port of Aden that killed 17 American sailors and the attack on a French oil tanker, the Limburg, that killed one person two years later.\u003cbr/\u003eSecurity troops were deployed to the area of Tuesday's blast, sealing off roads and preventing journalists from coming closer to the explosion site. \u003cbr/\u003eSecurity officials stopped an Associated Press reporter a kilometre (mile) away from the embassy building.\u003cbr/\u003eThe school
