Wide of foyer with ticker and charts \u003cbr/\u003eEuropean stock markets responded cautiously on Tuesday after the continent's leaders clinched a deal for a rescue package to prevent Greece defaulting.\u003cbr/\u003eGermany's DAX fell 0.3 percent in early trading to 6,927.46.\u003cbr/\u003eBritain's FTSE 100 dropped 0.4 percent to 5,923.93 and France's CAC-40 shed 0.4 percent to 3,457.23.\u003cbr/\u003eThe euro managed to eke out some gains as the fear of a disorderly Greek debt default within a month diminished.\u003cbr/\u003eAfter more than 12 hours of talks, the countries that use the euro reached an agreement early Tuesday to hand Greece 130 (b) billion euro (172 (b) billion US dollars) in additional bailout loans to save it from a potentially disastrous default next month. \u003cbr/\u003eOliver Roth, Director of Trade Close Brothers Seydler Bank, said in Frankfurt on Tuesday that the eurozone has gained some time with the bailout agreement, but added that a default was \"still possible.\"  \u003cbr/\u003eDespite another tense day for European markets, many traders at Frankfurt Stock Exchange came to work in fancy dress to mark Germany's Fasching, an annual carnival.\u003cbr/\u003eMeanwhile Greece's stock market rose on the bailout news.\u003cbr/\u003eFund manager Theodore Krintas said Greece needs to implement its promised measures quickly to reassure \"our partners and the markets.\"\u003cbr/\u003eThe eurozone and the International Monetary Fund, which will be providing the money for the new bailout, hope the new programme will eventually put Greece back into a position where it can survive without external support and secure its place in the euro currency union.\u003cbr/\u003eThe accord, which had been months in the making, seeks to reduce Greece's massive debts on all fronts, with both private and official creditors going beyond what they had said was possible in the past. \u003cbr/\u003eOn top of the new rescue loans, Athens will also ask banks and other investment funds to write off some 107 (b) billion euros (140 (b) billion US dollars) in debt, while the European Central Bank and other national central banks in the eurozone will forgo profits on their holdings. \u003cbr/\u003eBut despite those unprecedented efforts, it was clear that Greece was at the very best starting on a long and painful road to recovery.
