Whilst literacy rates...\u003c/span\u003e\n\u003cspan class='full-description hide'\u003eEng/Portu/Nat \u003cbr/\u003eThe largest book fair in South America opened in Rio de Janeiro on Wednesday.\u003cbr/\u003eThere are more than 500 exhibitors, approximately 15-hundred book releases and an  estimated 125-thousand titles on sale.  \u003cbr/\u003eWhilst literacy rates in South America are known to be statistically lower than in other  parts of the world, this international event is expected to draw crowds of up to 900- thousand until it closes on 24 August.\u003cbr/\u003eThe book fair has taken up a total of 44-thousand square meters in exhibition space and  is expected to bring in approximately 45 (m) million U-S dollars of book sales.\u003cbr/\u003eThe 11-day event, which ends on 24 August, is expected to take in 900-thousand  visitors from all walks of life.\u003cbr/\u003eThere are many sectors of the book market represented at the fair, which is reported to  have over 125-thousand titles for sale.\u003cbr/\u003eThe fair is 30 percent larger than last year's, while the Brazilian publishing sector has  grown to 40 percent of the total on show.\u003cbr/\u003eSOUNDBITE: (English) \u003cbr/\u003e\"Our industry is selling much more, and the Brazilian (authors) are beginning to sell  more.
