While men who drink socially, visiting a bar at least once a month, bring home an additional 7 percent in pay, according to the Reason Foundation report by economists Bethany Peters, Ph.D., and Edward Stringham, Ph.D.\u003cbr/\u003eThe report was released in September 2006 and published in \u003cbr/\u003eThe national survey of 8000 Americans, from all salary groups, found that while drinkers, in general, make more than non drinkers, when it comes to women drinkers, they make more money overall, regardless of whether they socialise in bars.\u003cbr/\u003eStringham says their study found that women who drink more can earn up to 14 percent more money than women who don't drink. \u003cbr/\u003eCardiologist Dr. Frank Nakano is an Associate Clincial Professor of Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine UCLA Medical Center. \u003cbr/\u003eHe says, as long as one drinks moderately and does not engage in \"binge drinking\" (drinking excessively in a short period of time) then their health will stay in check.\u003cbr/\u003eMild to moderate is considered to be three to nine drinks per week. \u003cbr/\u003eNakano says from a cardiovascular standpoint, there's an advantage to drinking moderate amount alcohol. \u003cbr/\u003eCo-founder of the American Institute of Wine and Food based in Washington D.C., Los Angeles lawyer Manual Klausner, isn't surprised by the findings and agrees but would like to see a follow up study. \u003cbr/\u003eNow, networking Web sites exist to help those in the business world help increase their contacts. \u003cbr/\u003eNetworking For Professionals.com allows people to sign up for social events in major US cities allowing them to exchange business cards and increase their contacts. \u003cbr/\u003eKlausner says there is no question that drinking with associates or clients boosts business. \u003cbr/\u003eA Gallup poll last year found 64 per cent of Americans say they drink, consuming an average of 4.5 drinks a week. \u003cbr/\u003eIn households with annual incomes over $75,000 thousand an even higher percentage - 82% drink. \u003cbr/\u003eSommelier Sandi M.Marques, President, Cork and Karma, a wine and beverage
