And I will tell you that this case is not any different that what we trained for. We had damage that at least we have lost foam of the external tank that gives you a pause before you launch the next shuttle whether it's for a nominal flight or a rescue flight. The risk here on going underneath the vehicle to pull these thermal chims out is as we hope relatively remote that we do any further damage, but it is surely something that you have to think about.\"\u003cbr/\u003e9. SOUNDBITE: (English) Wayne Hale, Shuttle Programme Manager:\u003cbr/\u003e\"The Columbia accident made us realise that we have been playing Russian roulette with the shuttle crews that we have been very, very fortunate that the foam did not cause critical damage prior to Columbia, because it clearly was coming of from areas where clearly had the capability to do catastrophic damage and so that's something I thought about an awful lot for the last two and half years and it's something that we want to prevent in the future and the fact that we were not entirely successful in preventing large pieces of foam from coming of is something we got pursue with new interest to solve it.\"\u003cbr/\u003e11. Various of Control station Houston   \u003cbr/\u003eNASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) engineers are studying precision photographs of potentially damaged areas on the shuttle Discovery. \u003cbr/\u003eNo final decision has been made on whether astronauts will attempt repairs during a space walk.\u003cbr/\u003eNASA engineers are deciding how serious the threat is from strips of filler material hanging from the shuttle's belly.\u003cbr/\u003eThe worry is that the material could cause the orbiter to overheat on re-entry, raising the spectre of the Columbia disaster in 2003.\u003cbr/\u003eIt will be Monday before the analysis is complete and mission managers decide whether to have the crew's two spacewalks cut or pull the two hanging strips.\u003cbr/\u003eSuch a spacewalking feat would be a first.\u003cbr/\u003eIn 24 years of shuttle flight, astronauts have never ventured beneath their spacecraft in orbit and have made few repairs to their ship, certainly
