Various staff on wheelchair moving with brain wave\u003cbr/\u003eJapanese based scientists have developed new technology to steer a wheelchair by detecting brain waves, without the person having to move a muscle or shout a command.\u003cbr/\u003eThe designers say that other versions of the technology require several seconds to read brain waves, but the new technology requires only 125 milliseconds - or 125 thousandths of a second.\u003cbr/\u003eIt's the latest in brain wave technology. \u003cbr/\u003eHere at the RIKEN BSI-TOYOTA Collaboration Centre in Saitama, Japan, scientists have developed  a system which uses one of the fastest technologies in the world - controlling a wheelchair using brain waves.\u003cbr/\u003eThe person in the wheelchair wears a cap that can read brain signals, which are relayed to a brain scan electroencephalograph, or EEG, on the electrically powered wheelchair.\u003cbr/\u003eThe signals are then analysed in a computer programme.\u003cbr/\u003eAll this takes just 125 milliseconds - or 125 thousandths of a second.\u003cbr/\u003eResearch into mobility is part of Toyota's larger strategy to go beyond automobiles in helping people get around in new ways.\u003cbr/\u003eThe new system allows the person on the wheelchair to turn left or right and go forward, almost instantly, according to researchers.\u003cbr/\u003e\"Brain computing interface and brain machine interface is the same. The person in the wheelchair must puff up a cheek, which is picked up in a detector worn on the face.\u003cbr/\u003eToyota does not have any plans to turn the technology into a product for commercial sale as they are still developing the research.\u003cbr/\u003eThe researchers hope that this technology would help at hospitals or care centres in the field of rehabilitation or and of course to help people using wheelchairs.\u003cbr/\u003e\"The main propose to develop this system is to use for elderly people, people with limited mobility, disabled people, handicapped people, partially paralysed people.
