According to the World Health Organisation, two thirds of the 15 (m) million H-I-V- infected people in the world are...\u003c/span\u003e\n\u003cspan class='full-description hide'\u003eEnglish/Nat\u003cbr/\u003eAs AIDS continues its remorseless advance across the globe, nowhere has been  harder hit than Africa. \u003cbr/\u003eAccording to the World Health Organisation, two thirds of the 15 (m) million H-I-V- infected people in the world are African.\u003cbr/\u003eKenya is typical - in the capital Nairobi, at least 10 per cent of all young adults are HIV  positive. \u003cbr/\u003eOne of the biggest problems facing those trying to halt its spread is religious  fundamentalism. \u003cbr/\u003eNairobi by night - its peak hour on Friday as the women of the night start to ply their  trade. \u003cbr/\u003eThe city's red light district is lined with prostitutes trying to attract new customers.\u003cbr/\u003eProstitutes have long been seen as one of the major carriers of the HIV virus. \u003cbr/\u003eResearch has shown that women are twice as likely as men to become infected with  the AIDS virus during heterosexual sex. \u003cbr/\u003eThe disease is spreading through the population - within two decades, it is thought that  AIDS will be the leading cause of death among young and middle-aged adults in Kenya.  \u003cbr/\u003eProstitutes who have more then 4 clients a week stand a 60 per cent chance of  contracting the deadly virus.\u003cbr/\u003eCanadian researchers have been working closely with prostitutes in Kenya since 1985. \u003cbr/\u003eThey now believe that some prostitutes who have been in the business for many years  may be developing a natural immunity.\u003cbr/\u003eSOUNDBITE: (English)\u003cbr/\u003e\"There seems to be some kind of resistance to HIV that is possibly acquired through  prostitution, and we are very interested in the possibility that this is some natural  immunity that protects these women.\" \u003cbr/\u003eSUPER CAPTION: Dr. Frank Plumber, Canadian Aids Researcher\u003cbr/\u003eBut ``Teresa' is not one of the lucky few - last year she discovered she was H-I-V  positive.\u003cbr/\u003eSOUNDBITE: (English)\u003cbr/\u003e\"I go out to the clubs...
