Mid shot of woman exiting HealthSpot kiosk   \u003cbr/\u003eThe latest computer electronics has transformed the family physician into a Dr. Who style Tardis.\u003cbr/\u003eThe one stop clinic on show at CES in Las Vegas is a remote controlled surgery where a health worker hundreds of miles away takes you through a 'do it yourself' examination. \u003cbr/\u003eIt's an unassuming little box.\u003cbr/\u003eBut according to its manufacturer if you're feeling ill, this booth is all you need.\u003cbr/\u003eIt a doctors surgery with all the kit and it can be placed anywhere although initially it'll probably be found in pharmacies.\u003cbr/\u003eHealthSpot is is a self-contained examination room which makes seeing the doctor seem a bit more high tech.  \u003cbr/\u003eHere at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas it's showing how queuing up to see your family GP could become a thing of the past. \u003cbr/\u003eHealthSpot's founder and CEO Steve Cashman calls the technology \"tele-medicine\". \u003cbr/\u003eThere's been a general trend in this direction with computer and telephone consultations.\u003cbr/\u003eAdvances in mobile electronics have made it possible for doctors so see and assess health reports, radiographic images, even listen to heartbeats \u003cbr/\u003ehundreds, or thousands of miles away from their patients.\u003cbr/\u003eCashman believes it'll make health care more convenient.\u003cbr/\u003eHe says \"HealthSpot's mission is to create access to high quality and affordable health care. So how we're doing that and what we're doing is basically, how many times have you woke up, you're sick and you have a fairly good idea of what you have and that path forward to getting to an urgent care to your doctor, get your medicine and get back to work is painful and expensive. So what we're trying to do is create a convenient access to health care in your local pharmacy.\" \u003cbr/\u003ePatients seeking treatment for an ailment can connect to a healthcare professional via video conferencing. \u003cbr/\u003eThis physician, or nurse instructs the patient on how to self-administer an ear exam or instruct them to place a stethoscope to their chest.  \u003cbr/\u003eThat information is the transmitted to the professional who can then write a prescription for the patients ailment.   \u003cbr/\u003eCashman says the development of HealthSpot has been spurred on by a shortage of doctors in the US. \u003cbr/\u003eHe says: \"We do have a doctor shortage, so it's all about how we use doctors time more efficiently. And how do we know we're seeing a quality doc? If so were able to do that, select a doctor with a large health system that's a quality provider and you're able to quickly get in and get out and get on down the road back to what you're doing and feeling better.\" \u003cbr/\u003eAccording to Cashman units are already in use in America at Miami Children's Hospital and at University Hospital. \u003cbr/\u003eHe hopes that one thousand of them will be in drugstores across the country by the end of the year.\u003cbr/\u003eCashman believes this experience will become popular.\u003cbr/\u003eThis woman is being told by the on screen health worker where to place medical instruments so information can be captured electronically and a diagnosis made.\u003cbr/\u003eA few minutes later she's able to leave, with a prescription if she need it.\u003cbr/\u003eObviously booths like this won't replace doctors who need to see very sick and frail patients, but its makers claim it might make treating smaller ailments quicker and
