a speech in Jerusalem.\u003cbr/\u003eIsaac Shickman, a student at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem won one of the tickets in his university's lottery.\u003cbr/\u003eShickman said he was very excited he will get to attend the speech and planned to go with his mobile phone and take plenty of pictures.\u003cbr/\u003eThe student also told AP Television he believes Obama has decided to address students because they will be the next world leaders.\u003cbr/\u003eAcross in the Gaza Strip it was a different story for Amal Ashour, an 18-year-old Palestinian, who loves the works of William Shakespeare and American pop music.\u003cbr/\u003eOne of the brightest students in the Gaza Strip, she studied her senior year of high school in Minnesota through a US-government funded programme. \u003cbr/\u003eShe had planned to study English literature this autumn at a university in the West Bank through another US-sponsored programme.\u003cbr/\u003eHowever just a month before school started, she was informed the scholarship was no longer available. \u003cbr/\u003eShe is now enrolled at the Islamic University, a stronghold of Gaza's ruling Islamic militant Hamas. \u003cbr/\u003eAshour told AP Television she wished she could have the chance to talk to President Obama and ask him to help her and her peers get a good education.\u003cbr/\u003eUS officials quietly cancelled the scholarship programme under Israeli pressure, undercutting one of the few American outreach programmes to people in the Hamas-ruled territory. \u003cbr/\u003eThe program now faces an uncertain future, just two years after being launched with great fanfare by US Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton during a visit to the region.  \u003cbr/\u003eThe program offers about 30 scholarships to promising but financially challenged Palestinian high school seniors from Gaza and the West Bank to study in local Palestinian universities.  \u003cbr/\u003eIt is a rare opportunity for gifted students in Gaza, which has been constrained by an Israeli blockade since Hamas seized power five years ago. \u003cbr/\u003eThe blockade has made it harder for Palestinians to travel abroad. \u003cbr/\u003eBoth Israel and the US consider Hamas a terrorist group because of its hundreds of attacks against Israelis, including suicide bombings, and frequent rocket attacks from Gaza.
