Bear  in mind that years ago he and his brothers were accused of poisoning - assassinating  their father in order to receive their inheritance. What moral authority does this man have to insult us?\"\u003cbr/\u003eSUPER CAPTION: Daniel Ortega, Sandinista leader\u003cbr/\u003eThe latest verbal attacks have raised questions about the delicate cooperation between  the two sides in negotiations to return property confiscated from rich landowners by the  Sandinistas and given to the poor.\u003cbr/\u003eSince the government took office in January the Sandinistas had been cooperating on a  plan to return some private properties confiscated under their rule in the 1980s. \u003cbr/\u003eNicaraguan President Arnoldo Aleman has called on the Sandinistas to help the  government with its programme to return property. \u003cbr/\u003eSOUNDBITE: (Spanish)\u003cbr/\u003e\"What Nicaragua needs is to pick itself up. There is confidence in this government,  there is confidence in the country, jobs are being generated. We must give legal  security to the owners of property and cooperatives. As we said in our  communique, the government should be doing the contrary - telling them they have no  right, that they lost their rights. The Somoza family should be in jail and responding for  all the money they stole from the country.\"\u003cbr/\u003eSUPER CAPTION: Daniel Ortega, Sandinista leader\u003cbr/\u003eFormer Sandinista President Daniel Ortega is also embroiled in the land controversy.\u003cbr/\u003eHis tightly guarded house is one of the properties confiscated by his government during  the 1980s.\u003cbr/\u003eBut Ortega says he's willing to give it up.\u003cbr/\u003eOrtega says relatives of former dictator Anastasio Somoza Debayle, who was  assassinated in Paraguay after fleeing Nicaragua in 1979, have returned to reclaim the  confiscated properties.\u003cbr/\u003eMeanwhile, Nicaragua's foreign ministry says Eduardo Jose Sevilla Somoza, nephew of  Somoza Debayle, has received the approval of the Argentine government as its new  Nicaraguan ambassador.\u003cbr/\u003eOrtega says these issues threaten social peace and political stability.\u003cbr/\u003eHe says the Aleman government, instead of urging the Somozas to reclaim their  properties, should be forcing them to pay the money back to Nicaragua.\u003cbr/\u003eFor now, Ortega's accusations have put talks between the Sandinistas and the Aleman  government about state properties at a standstill.\u003cbr/\u003eManagua, Nicaragua, 28 February 1997\u003cbr/\u003e1.
