Then a trip to the spa might be the answer.\u003cbr/\u003eOne treatment that's said to help reduce wrinkles and improve skin tone is Intense Pulsed Light.\u003cbr/\u003eThis woman is being prepared for skin rejuvenation.\u003cbr/\u003eAccording to the spa 122 Knightsbridge in London, this machine is the very latest in gadgets delivering Intense Pulsed Light therapy (IPL).\u003cbr/\u003eIt's more commonly known as photo rejuvenation.\u003cbr/\u003eIt was originally developed for use in hospitals to tackle disfiguring scars, but now in Britain, it's available in salons which says it's in compliance with registration requirements of the UK's Care Quality Commission.\u003cbr/\u003eAccording to 122 Knightsbridge it's a minimally invasive, non-surgical way to treat various areas of the body affected by sun damage, broken blood vessels and acne and even small wrinkles.\u003cbr/\u003eSenior therapist Isabella Moore chooses a filter to insert into the hand piece which delivers the light.\u003cbr/\u003eThese filters alter the wavelengths which are tailored to meet the needs of different skin problems.\u003cbr/\u003eThe intensity of light and the amount of cooling time is dictated by each specific filter and these also alter according to the colour and therefore the amount of pigmentation within the skin.\u003cbr/\u003eMoore says the light is seeks out \"collagen, pigmentation, or blood, or pus in acne. This is the target that the light has that (it's) reaching, okay? They're all different targets, therefore you use different filters, the light intensity, pulse and delays.\"\u003cbr/\u003eShe says while it may look as though you are using the same treatment for many conditions \"you use a different spectrum of light, using different filters and different settings. This is why you are able to treat all the different skin conditions using the same machine\". but the setting and filters and spectrum of light is completely different. \"\u003cbr/\u003eAccording to Moore it enhances rejuvenation by targeting collagen. \u003cbr/\u003eThis naturally occurring protein connects and supports our body's tissues such as skin and muscle.\u003cbr/\u003eIt depletes with age.\u003cbr/\u003eIt's claimed the IPL can stimulate change at a cellular level and stimulate the production of new collagen without damaging what is already there.\u003cbr/\u003eThe idea is that the heat is generated below the skin's surface, protecting the outer layers and minimising downtime and pain.\u003cbr/\u003eMoore says \"the light only goes six to eight millimetres (0.3 inches) into the skin. It's not affecting anything except the skin and the skin condition you want to treat. It doesn't affect your organ, it doesn't go inside your body as the case would be with the laser.\"\u003cbr/\u003eThe treatment has to be precisely timed because the heat can cause some clients discomfort.\u003cbr/\u003eThis discomfort may affect some more than others and clients coming here are advised to get a patch test on a small area of skin before proceeding with the treatment.\u003cbr/\u003eAlso all skins will react differently.\u003cbr/\u003eAlthough Moore insists there's no long term scarring, sections of skin do darken and create a scab when IPL is used to correct sun damage.\u003cbr/\u003eThe aim is for the scab to fall away without leaving a mark.\u003cbr/\u003eBecause it targets the skin's pigment Moore warns that it should not be used on all skins.\u003cbr/\u003eShe says \"the light will be attracted by pigment and you'll burn the pigment, you'll burn the skin. This is the reason why you are not using light therapy on dark skin, on very black skin. But it's safe to use on Indian skin, Arabic skin\".\u003cbr/\u003eThe cost of using IPL can soon stack up.\u003cbr/\u003eThe number of sessions you'll need can vary according to the severity of your skin condition and that can add up to several hundred dollars.\u003cbr/\u003eThis method is a high tech version of the simple pinch.\u003cbr/\u003eIt sucks and pinches the skin and it's offered as part of the facial packages.\u003cbr/\u003eThe therapists here say we can all help stimulate the blood cells and improve the texture of our skin by evenly pinching our skin.\u003cbr/\u003eSo a pinch a
