security man's funeral procession passed through Gaza City, Fatah supporters fired automatic weapons angrily into the air.\u003cbr/\u003eNervous Hamas militiamen briefly opened fire.\u003cbr/\u003eMedical officials said one person was wounded, and Fatah and Hamas forces poured into the area in anticipation of further violence.\u003cbr/\u003eThe guard died when dozens of gunmen attacked a Gaza City training base of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' presidential guard before dawn on Sunday. \u003cbr/\u003eOfficials blamed the assault on Hamas.\u003cbr/\u003eThe attack came just hours after he announced he would end Hamas' nine-month rule by calling early elections.\u003cbr/\u003eThe guard, who was stationed at the base gate, was killed and three others were wounded, officials said. \u003cbr/\u003eThe assault touched off a fierce, 20-minute battle and the sound of fire from guns and grenades mingled with the call for morning prayer. \u003cbr/\u003eThe gunmen fled after reinforcements were sent from other presidential guard camps, security officials said.\u003cbr/\u003eSecurity officials were searching the camp and surrounding area for the gunmen. \u003cbr/\u003eBecause it is a training facility, only around a dozen people were inside the base when the gunmen pulled up in jeeps and launched their attack, security officials said.\u003cbr/\u003eThe base is located about 700 metres (2,300 feet) from the president's residence and office in Gaza City. \u003cbr/\u003eAbbas was in the West Bank town of Ramallah at the time of the attack.\u003cbr/\u003eBefore arriving at the base, the gunmen attacked an electricity transformer in the area, cutting off power to the base and nearby houses, the presidential guard said. \u003cbr/\u003eAfter entering the base, they set fire to trailers and tents, the guard said.\u003cbr/\u003eHamas deny any involvement in the
