They are threatening retaliation against Pakistani Christians if Masih's appeal is successful.\u003cbr/\u003ePakistani Muslims demonstrated outside Lahore's High Court this morning. Hard-line Muslims are angry that the case has been accepted for an appeal. They say the earlier conviction should be upheld.\u003cbr/\u003eThe chances of a fair trial are very slim.  The atmosphere created by the fundamentalists around the High Court where the appeal is being heard reduces further the chances of the judgement coming out of the appeal as being an independent judgement.\u003cbr/\u003eSUPER CAPTION: Hina Jilani, Defence lawyer.\u003cbr/\u003eThere are about two -(m) million Christians in Pakistan. They've called for a day of fasting and protest later this week. They've said they hold the government responsible for the safety of the boy as one of the three accused was shot dead last April after receiving bail.\u003cbr/\u003eSalamat was visited on Sunday by the Bishop of Lahore. He was said to be smiling and confident he would be released, but the Bishop says he does not believe Salamat realises the danger he is in.\u003cbr/\u003eSalamat being a fourteen year old boy, the issue at the moment is whether a child of fourteen can be sentenced to death, but above all for both Salamat and Rahmat this is a case without any evidence against them.\u003cbr/\u003eSUPER CAPTION: Hina Jilani, Defence Lawyer\u003cbr/\u003eProsecutor Murtaza Qureishy says he is defending Islam on behalf of the state. He is angry that because the appeal was accepted so quickly he was unable to question Salamat himself.\u003cbr/\u003eHe says there is an international conspiracy against Islam, and the accused are pawns of the international community.\u003cbr/\u003eThe prosecutor has the right to cross examine the accused and that right was denied because of the indecent and the obscene haste on the part of the government to get an acquittal of the accused and tell America we're goody.
