instruments.
The sounds the seats emit go on to create a unique master piece.
The South Bank Centre in London has a long standing tradition for producing and performing classical and world music.
It is home to the the Philharmonic Orchestra and the London Philharmonic Orchestra.
"Play Orchestra" is the result of a collaboration between Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design MA Creative Practice for Narrative Environments, South Bank Centre Education and the Philharmonia Orchestra.
The Play Orchestra installation has 56 plastic cubes, and three Hotspots, laid out on a full size orchestra stage.
Each cube contains a light, speaker and a photo of the instrument you are sitting on.
People of all ages can sit down on the cube, or stand on a hotspot to turn on that instrument
Each cube represents one of the classical instruments, in the usual 58 - 60 the education team at the South Bank Centre, says the psychological effect the music has on the visitors is amazing.
With the slower calmer music visitors will sit back and relax, but with the faster more upbeat pieces the visitors will feel the music and move in time.
If you bring along 58 friends and family you can make up a full orchestra.
Richard Slaney, educational and website officer for the Philharmonic Orchestra Britain, and the inventor and developer of the Play Orchestra, believes that it is important to introduce people to classical music and make it accessible to everyone.
Installing and designing the play orchestra was a complex project.
Each seat is linked to a computer backstage via a cable.
When pressure is placed on a cube a signal is sent to the main frame computer and the instrument begins to play.
The designers have also included bluetooth technology.
Bluetooth is a cable-free connectivity between mobile, phones, mobile PCs and handheld computers.
When visitors switch on the blue-tooth technology in their mobile phones they will be able to download classical music played on that day.
They are also able to record samples, and send them back to the Play Orchestra sample
