Wide of Milad tower and the moon\u003cbr/\u003ePeople in Iran observed a full lunar eclipse at 01:00 am on Sunday (21:30 GMT on Saturday).\u003cbr/\u003eIran's Amateur Astronomy Association in Tehran held an educational workshop aimed at introducing people to the process and details of the lunar eclipse.\u003cbr/\u003e\"This is the last lunar eclipse in the Iranian current year and we are not going to have another beautiful and complete eclipse like this one for five years. We and other fans of astronomy have gathered here to watch this eclipse until dawn and enjoy it,\" said Amir Shirazi, Director of Iran's Amateur Astronomy Association in Tehran.\u003cbr/\u003eA large number of students were enjoying the event and took photographs of the eclipse.\u003cbr/\u003e\"I am so happy to be looking at one of God's most beautiful and glorious creatures. We want to take photographs of the eclipse,\" said Zohreh Yavarzadeh, a high school student.\u003cbr/\u003eThe first total lunar eclipse in nearly three years thrilled stargazers and astronomers around the world.\u003cbr/\u003ePartly visible on every continent, residents of Europe, Africa and the Middle East had the best view of the phenomenon, weather permitting.\u003cbr/\u003eLunar eclipses occur when Earth passes between the sun and the moon, an uncommon event because the moon spends most of its time\u003cbr/\u003eeither above or below the plane of Earth's orbit.\u003cbr/\u003eSunlight still reaches the moon during total eclipses, but it is refracted through Earth's atmosphere, bathing the moon in an eerie reddish light.\u003cbr/\u003eEarth's shadow began moving across the moon at 2018 GMT, with the total eclipse occurring at 2244 GMT and lasting over an hour.\u003cbr/\u003eResidents of east Asia saw the eclipse cut short by moonset, while those in the eastern parts of North and South America had the moon already partially or totally eclipsed by the time it rose over the horizon in the evening.\u003cbr/\u003eWhile eastern Australia, Alaska and New Zealand missed
