Indian navy, was actually a Thai fishing trawler seized hours earlier by pirates.\u003cbr/\u003eHowever, Pranab Mukherjee defended the actions of the Indian navy, saying they had followed international law and practices. \u003cbr/\u003eAddressing a joint news conference after talks with his visiting Pakistani counterpart Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Mukherjee said the trawler had been taken over by pirates and the naval warship INS Tabar was within its right to sink the vessel.  \u003cbr/\u003eFourteen sailors from the Thai boat have been missing since the November 18 battle, which was hailed as a rare victory in the fight against increasingly brazen pirates who have rattled the international shipping industry and created chaos in vital sea lanes. \u003cbr/\u003eMukherjee called for action on the part of the international community to end the menace of piracy.\u003cbr/\u003eThe Indian and Pakistani sides held wide ranging talks on a variety of bilateral issues on Wednesday.\u003cbr/\u003ePakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi also sought to allay India's concerns about the safety of its cricketers during an upcoming tour.\u003cbr/\u003eIndia is India's cricket board is awaiting security clearance from its central government, which earlier this month stopped the country's junior field hockey team going to Pakistan on security
