specific theme, thus allowing artists from all disciplines to enter so long as their works are original. \u003cbr/\u003eTokyo's Design Festa is the biggest art event in Asia. \u003cbr/\u003eThis year the exhibition attracted more than 6,000 artists from 40 different countries and around 50,000 visitors.  \u003cbr/\u003eThe Crazy Angel Company performed a piece which fuses Japanese traditional art and music on the main stage. \u003cbr/\u003eThe musicians moved around the stage while an artist painted Chinese characters on a screen and dancers showed off their moves. \u003cbr/\u003eOne of the performers, Ai Nakajima, says the Design Festa has always supported their work. \u003cbr/\u003eArtist  Masashi Ito (also known as Massage Ito) was painting a huge canvas at the event. \u003cbr/\u003eHe says the best thing about the event is talking to members of the public and hearing their opinions of his work. \u003cbr/\u003eThe Japanese love of dressing up was also evident. \u003cbr/\u003eFrom a woman in a newspaper dress, to a mime artist in a metallic suit and several young women dressed as cos-play characters.  \u003cbr/\u003eCos-play is the name given to the trend of dressing up like a character from video game or animation series. \u003cbr/\u003eJapan coined this social phenomenon \"cos-play\", a take on the English word \"costume\" and \"role-play.\"   \u003cbr/\u003eKim Jung-ha from South Korea says that Japan is the only place in Asia where you can take part in such an artistic event. \u003cbr/\u003eHerrena Irene is a teacher at the Temple University's Japan Media Arts department. \u003cbr/\u003eShe says that the event is a great chance for students to meet other artists and develop contacts. \u003cbr/\u003eKunie Usuki is the founder of Design Festa. \u003cbr/\u003eShe says the Design Festa gives young artists the chance to show their work to a wide audience. \u003cbr/\u003eVisitors can chat to the artists as they work, and if they
