Cordoves in pool carried on team mates shoulders\u003cbr/\u003eA man who must be one of Cuba's oldest athletes says he'll never give up his sport.\u003cbr/\u003eSwimmer Ramon Cordoves insists he still feels great, and is ready to continue swimming and competing, despite being 94 years old. \u003cbr/\u003eIn 2004 swimmer Ramon Cordoves competed in the World Masters swimming competition in Italy and won four gold medals, a silver medal and honourable mentions in both the 400 and 500 metre races. \u003cbr/\u003eCuba's Institute of Sports has supported Cordoves in the past and has paid for his trips and expenses to compete overseas. \u003cbr/\u003eAccording to Cordoves, budget cuts and economic constraints have kept him in Cuba and unable to attend international events in 2005 and 2006.\u003cbr/\u003eHe has been swimming for the past 80 years and has been doing it daily since he retired as an engineer almost 25 years ago at the age of 70.\u003cbr/\u003eBecause of his age Cordoves says he won't agree to taking part in competitions a long way off in the future.\u003cbr/\u003eCordoves swims at least one kilometre (0.6 mile) each day and has his hopes set on competing at next year at Australia's Masters Championships.\u003cbr/\u003eHe says he believes that no one should ever lose hope. \u003cbr/\u003eCordoves belongs to a small group of senior athletes that have been swimming with him for many years.\u003cbr/\u003eThey have named their group \"The Accumulated Youth Club\".\u003cbr/\u003eWith no local swimmers in his category who can keep up with him, Cordoves can only compete against the clock in Cuba.\u003cbr/\u003eNear his home in Havana is the Marcelo Salgado middle school, where he makes use of the pool and keeps himself in shape while training.\u003cbr/\u003eThe veteran swimmer says he doesn't drink alcohol or smoke and says he is very happy with life.\u003cbr/\u003eHe is very proud of his family and of the medals he has won over the years.\u003cbr/\u003eAnd his success in the pool doesn't stop there.\u003cbr/\u003eCordoves' age certainly does not stop him taking to the water every day and completing his
