This one is called White Center, but as you can see, the picture is ground in orange colour that comes right through. So at one point you can see red coming through the white, you can see blue coming through the white. In a sense even though you are seeing three colours here coming through in this painting and a background, it kind of reveals the hand of the artist throughout the whole process of making the painting.\"\u003cbr/\u003e8. Medium shot of Jean-Michel Basquiat's \"Untitled\"\u003cbr/\u003eSotheby's auction house in New York on Thursday unveiled its line up of impressionist and modern art pieces up for auction this spring in New York City. \u003cbr/\u003eAmong the highlights lined up for the upcomming May Auction are a range of works from Pollock, Picasso, Bacon, and Basquiat. \u003cbr/\u003eOne of the most prized pieces, expected to go for over 40 million (m) US Dollars is Mark Rothko's \"White Center.\" \u003cbr/\u003eAnthony Grant, senior specialist of contemporary art at Sotheby's says the Rothko painting is special because the hand of the artist is so evident.\u003cbr/\u003e\"Rothko was concerned about the luminosity of these of these paintings,\" said Grant. \"This one is called White Center, but as you can see, the picture is ground in orange colour that comes right through\" he said, continuing; \"it kind of reveals the hand of the artist throughout the whole process of making the painting.\"\u003cbr/\u003eThe range of art work available, according to David Norman chairman of impressionist and modern art at Sotheby's, is unique because there are three Jackson Pollocks for sale, as well as a mixture of other mediums rounding out the sale.\u003cbr/\u003e\"This sale is probably one of the most consistently high quality sales with just great examples of the artists work in every field,\" said Norman, adding it's a diverse collection covering many of the \"key moments of 20th century art.\"\u003cbr/\u003eStanding out, said Norman, is a Cezanne water colour \"Nature Morte au Melon Vert\" -  a work from the pinnacle of of the artists career that is expected to fetch 14 to 18 million (m) US Dollar. \u003cbr/\u003e\"(It) is one of the greatest water colours by the artist, certainly one of the last of its magnitude still in private hands.
